Biography

Anne Isabelle Bonifasi is a contemporary Haitian artist whose work bridges continents, cultures, and textures. Born to Haitian parents and raised across Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, French Guiana, and Vietnam, Bonifasi absorbed a global sense of rhythm that pulses through her art. Her mixed-media canvases blend acrylic, metal, wood, and resin into tactile explorations of heritage, femininity, and emotional memory. She often applies paint with palette knives or even her fingers, producing rich surfaces that shimmer with layered color. Bonifasi's art radiates the freedom of a citizen of the world-firmly Haitian in soul yet cosmopolitan in execution. Whether evoking Caribbean light or Asian landscape tones, her pieces celebrate movement, identity, and the strength of women. She continues to exhibit internationally, positioning Haitian visual language within a broader global dialogue.
