Biography

Marcel Wah was born in 1936 in Port-au-Prince to a Haitian-Chinese family that contributed to Haiti's artistic and cultural mosaic. Growing up in a household that valued both Caribbean creativity and Asian aesthetic traditions, Wah developed a cross-cultural sensibility that would define his career. His art explores identity, hybridity, and belonging, weaving elements of Haitian spirituality, calligraphic gesture, and Eastern composition into a single visual language.
