Biography

Born October 19, 1954, in Cap-Haïtien, Riché apprenticed under master Philomé Obin before cultivating a distinctive satirical realism. His rotund figures-dandies, matrons, merchants-capture the humour and humanity of Haitian bourgeois life. Each face gleams with wit and resilience, each posture tells a social story. Riché's palette is bold, his outlines decisive; beneath the laughter lies empathy for Haiti's contradictions. Over four decades, he exhibited across the Caribbean and Europe. He passed away in 2020, leaving behind paintings that mirror Haiti's spirit with laughter and light.
