Le Marriage
Jonas Profil
In this luminous coastal tableau, Jonas Profil evokes a world suspended between dream and memory. The quiet pastel tones-muted blues, dusty mauves, and pearly whites-capture the misty stillness of early dawn over the northern Haitian coast. Figures move with unhurried rhythm: fishermen, women balancing baskets, a child gazing toward the sea. Profil's soft acrylic layers and lyrical brushwork dissolve boundaries between land, sky, and reflection, infusing the landscape with a sense of grace and gratitude. His characteristic serenity and disciplined structure transform simplicity into transcendence. 'Harmony by the Shore' celebrates the dignity of rural life through light and poise, revealing Profil's enduring belief that beauty is an act of resilience—a visual hymn to peace in motion.

About the Artist
Jonas Profil
Born July 22, 1957, in Fort-Liberté, near Cap-Haïtien, Jonas Profil emerged from humble beginnings to become one of Haiti's most lyrical contemporary painters. His father worked in the souvenir trade, exposing him early to the colours and motifs of Haitian craft. At eighteen, he spent his school savings on art supplies—a decision that charted the course of his life. Profil's early work reflects the northern school's clarity of line and disciplined structure, but he soon developed a distinct poetic realism. His paintings radiate lightness-figures float through soft pastel skies, tropical flora unfurls in luminous layers, and the human form is rendered with tenderness and quiet strength. Thematically, his work centres on peace, family, and spiritual harmony, deliberately offering beauty as an antidote to hardship. He has exhibited widely in Haiti, the United States, and France. Today he continues to live and paint in Port-au-Prince, though he signs his work 'Cap Haïtien' in honour of his roots. Jonas Profil's art stands as a hymn to gentleness in a turbulent world—a reminder that serenity is itself a revolutionary act.
